Meet the Teacher Evening

Short notice was given to parents and caregivers to attend a Meet the Teacher evening. I managed to email all the parents/caregivers from the school list. I also posted to the class blog, as parents and students were familiar with the forum.
A few parents responded tht they could attend, whilst others set up times to meet with me after school or during breaks.

Opportunities for Lighthouse learners	Sorry for the delay this was on the schedule for last week of the previous term! Opportunities for enrichment:  Historically we are very good at providing enrichment opportunities for lighthouse learners.  Is this still happening in 2016? Using your records, including the SLC and midyear report, note here the opportunities that lighthouse learners have engaged with so far this year.	Shared document here. Anyone who has not yet been connected with an opportunity will need to be a focus for terms 3 and 4.
Student Voice Google Survey.	Purpose - to gather a student perspective of the lighthouse learner experience this year. To identify aspects of our programme or practice that could be improved before the end of the year. Suggested 5 questions: First Name Describe your experience as a lighthouse learner at Berkley this year. What is working well for you in your homeroom class? What else is working for you outside the classroom (specialisation, academies, extension groups etc) What would make your learning at Berkley better? Anything else you would like us to know?	Please email any feedback to Beth ASAP.  Plan is to share survey next week.

Letter to Parents and Caregivers

In the first week if Term Three I wrote an introductory letter to Parents and Caregivers. This letter was to establish a connection with Whanau; to express my aims for their children; to convey the learning their children were going to undertake; and to provide links with which they could communicate with me.
After drafting an initial letter, Rachel Van Hueven and I collaborated to editing/re-craft, which was then seen by our SMT Pip Mears.
I received numerous emails, and messages in learners' Agenda books, from a range of parents welcoming me to the classroom.
